1. What we collect
Information you give us
When you complete the enquiry form or the quote builder, we collect:
- Your name and business name
- Your email address, and phone number if you provide one
- Your current website address, if you provide one
- The details you write about your project, and your timeline
- On the quote page, the package and options you selected and the estimate they produced
If you become a client, we also hold the information needed to deliver and invoice the work — correspondence, project files, and billing records.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our host records IP address, browser type, pages requested and timestamps.
- Advertising and analytics cookies. Set by the Meta and TikTok tracking pixels described in section 4.
We do not knowingly collect information from children, and we do not collect sensitive information as defined by the Privacy Act — no health, racial, religious, political or biometric data.
2. Why we collect it
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote
- To deliver, support and invoice work you engage us for
- To keep the website secure and working properly
- To measure which advertising brings genuine enquiries, and to show ads to people with similar interests
- To meet our record-keeping obligations, including tax
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not send marketing email unless you have asked us to.
3. Who we share it with
We use third-party services to run the website. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job.
| Service | What it handles | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify | Website hosting and server logs | USA |
| Web3Forms | Delivers both forms to our inbox | Overseas |
| Meta (Facebook, Instagram) | Advertising pixel and measurement | USA |
| TikTok | Advertising pixel and measurement | Overseas |
| Google Fonts | Serves the fonts; receives your IP address | USA |
Because these providers are located overseas, using this website involves your information being disclosed outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers, but we cannot control how a foreign provider handles information once disclosed, and overseas recipients may not be subject to Australian privacy law.
We may also disclose information where we are required to by law.
4. Cookies and tracking
This site uses cookies and similar technologies for two purposes:
- Essential. Remembering that you have dismissed the cookie notice. Nothing else.
- Advertising. The Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel record that you visited a page or submitted the quote form. This lets us measure which ads produce enquiries and show ads to similar audiences. They may set cookies that identify your browser across sites.
How to opt out
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings — the site will still work normally
- Adjust your Meta ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings
- Adjust your TikTok ad personalisation in the TikTok app settings
- Use your device's built-in tracking controls, such as iOS App Tracking Transparency
5. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't proceed: generally up to 2 years, then deleted
- Client records: at least 5 years after the last transaction, as tax law requires
- Server logs: retained by our host on their own schedule
- Advertising cookies: expire on the schedule set by Meta and TikTok, typically within 13 months
6. Keeping it secure
The site is served over HTTPS with security headers including a content security policy and HSTS. Access to enquiry data is limited to the people who need it to do the work. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and we destroy or de-identify it when no longer needed.
If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required.
7. Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask us at any time to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
- Delete your enquiry, where we are not required to keep it
Email info@djcoding.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge. We may need to verify your identity first.
8. Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email us first and we will investigate and respond in writing within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the business or the law changes. The current version is always at this address, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
Australian privacy law is changing. Reforms to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) are progressively extending obligations to small businesses that were previously exempt. We aim to meet the Australian Privacy Principles regardless of whether the exemption currently applies to us.
